Since 1949, the Office of the Federal President has cultivated the tradition of honorary sponsorship, which is intended to express the caring obligation of the state on the one hand and the strengthening of families with many children on the other. Federal President Theodor Heuss, who introduced the sponsorship, had 16,000 sponsored children in ten years. To date, a total of around 82,600 honorary sponsorships have been awarded by the Federal President. Osman Pinar is one of the godchildren.
Honorary sponsorships can be applied for from the seventh child onwards. In Offenbach, Bettina Jöst takes care of honorary sponsorships and their applications. This was also the case for Osman Pinar, the seventh child in the Offenbach family. His mother Hava Pinar accepted the certificate, an autograph card from the Federal President and the sponsorship gift of 500 euros on behalf of Osman Pinar from City Treasurer Martin Wilhelm. City Treasurer Martin Wilhelm also presented little Osman with a cuddly toy and an Offenbach breakfast set.
The Pinar couple grew up here in Offenbach. They have known each other since their school days. They have always wanted a large family. Both parents work and take care of their children together. For the Pinar couple, family planning is complete with their seventh child. Mrs. Pinar, a trained seamstress, is now turning her great wish into reality: a few days ago, she started training to become an educator, her dream job, as she says. In addition to her family and career, it is important to Ms. Pinar to do voluntary work. For years, she has therefore been involved as a parent mentor in the ELMO project (Eltern lernen mit in Offenbach) and founded the Müttercafé at the Rudolf Koch School.
City Treasurer Martin Wilhelm was deeply impressed by how Mr. and Mrs. Pinar manage to juggle family, career, education and voluntary work. "Offenbach is a young city with lots of children," he says. "I'm always happy to meet the people who are raising this next generation. I wish Osman and his siblings a wonderful childhood in our city and that their parents continue to have the drive and energy they need for their many tasks and activities."
