Foreigners' Advisory Council discusses religious education and census
At its meeting on May 11, the Foreigners' Advisory Council welcomes a special guest, the Government Director of the Hessian Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs.
On Wednesday, May 11, 2022, the Foreigners' Advisory Council will have a special guest. Ms. Nurgül Altuntas, Government Director of the Hessian Ministry of Culture, will speak on the topic of religious education in public schools and take a special look at Islamic religious education there.
The Foreigners' Advisory Council will also be discussing the 2022 census. The current survey of data on buildings, apartments and the population in Germany begins in May. This data is regularly collected by the official statistics of the federal and state governments in order to provide politicians, administrators and businesses with a meaningful basis for decision-making. Data is also collected in Offenbach. Mr. Marcel Mertlik, statistics expert in the city administration, will explain the background and implementation of the census to the members of the Foreigners' Advisory Council and answer technical questions from the committee.
The committee will also discuss the draft development plan no. 650 b "Residential and commercial high-rise at Berliner Str. 43". Development plans are also submitted to the Foreigners' Advisory Council for comments as part of the authorities' obligation to participate in construction projects in accordance with the German Building Code.
The organization of aid for refugees from Ukraine is not explicitly listed on the agenda, but is a topic for discussion in the Foreigners' Advisory Council. The members of the committee are involved here and receive the necessary information and contact points in order to provide the arriving people with tailored support.
The meeting will take place on 11.5.2022 from 19:00 in the city council meeting room in the town hall.
