General Assembly of the 13th Children's and Youth Parliament

The second plenary assembly of the 13th Children's and Youth Parliament (KJP) will take place on Thursday, July 11. The plenary assembly will begin with reports on the work of the KJP over the last few months since the start of the legislative period in March. The delegates will then submit motions that the plenary assembly will decide on. These include a motion for the continuation of the youth space that the KJP has organized in the city center over the past two years. The youth space in Offenbach's town hall pavilion is a space demanded and organized by the KJP for political, social and creative engagement by young people and young adults. As a non-consumption meeting place, it was part of the town hall pavilion for almost two years and now has to move to another, as yet unknown location due to the start of the renovation of the town hall pavilion. A room is currently being sought for the continuation, preferably an empty urban space. Finally, the delegates will elect their seven-member board, which will represent the KJP externally and implement the resolutions of the general assembly.

The election of the Executive Board is of particular importance in this legislative period. This is because the 12th KJP was not only successful with the implementation of a youth space, but also with its application for the right to speak in the city council. The board members of the 13th KJP will therefore be able to make use of their right to speak to the city councillors for 10 minutes on a current topic and thus be able to put forward the opinions of children and young people directly in the city council meeting. The Children's and Youth Parliament has existed in Offenbach since 1998 and has thus been in existence for over 25 years. The approximately 70 children and young people are elected by their classmates for a period of two years and represent the perspectives and needs of young people from Offenbach in the municipal discourse.
As the city council meeting room is not available, the plenary assembly takes place in room 2 of the town hall. The plenary meetings of the KJP are open to the public and interested parties are very welcome.
