Honorary citizen
Honorary citizenship is the highest honor that the City of Offenbach am Main can bestow. According to the Hessian municipal code (§ 28, para. 1 HGO), the municipality can award honorary citizenship to people who have rendered outstanding services to it.

City elders
This honorary title may be awarded by the municipality in accordance with the provisions of Section 28 (2) of the Hessian Municipal Code. Meritorious citizens who have served as municipal representatives, honorary civil servants, full-time electoral officials or as a member of a local advisory council for a total of at least 20 years may be nominated for this honor. The designation "Stadtälteste/r" is a personal right of an exclusively honorary nature. It does not confer any special rights or obligations.
