Kawagoe (Japan)

Kawagoe, which has a population of around 323,000, is located around 40 kilometers northwest of Tokyo. It originated in the European Middle Ages as the residence of high-ranking imperial officials. The modern city, which has become an industrial and service center, also preserves old traditions. Visitors encounter venerable temples and sacred shrines.
