Partnership for Democracy in Offenbach am Main

The Partnership for Democracy Offenbach am Main is committed to democracy and countering extremism. In order to strengthen democratic attitudes in urban society and prevent radicalization, the Federal Ministry of Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth will continue to support the "Partnership for Democracy" in Offenbach in the new funding period from 2025 as part of the "Live Democracy!" programme. Additional funding for the program is provided by the Hessian Competence Center for Extremism (HKE) at the Hessian Ministry of the Interior, for Security and Homeland Security.

The city of Offenbach, which established a local partnership for democracy in the fall of 2016, applied for renewed funding beyond the last funding period due to the great response from civil society and the positive results of the projects and measures implemented. For 2025, the "Partnership for Democracy" in Offenbach will therefore have up to 140,000 euros at its disposal to achieve the aforementioned goals.

The city has once again commissioned the "Municipal Prevention Office" at the Public Order Office with the local partnership for democracy. It is supported by the German Red Cross District Association Offenbach e. V., which is the responsible body for the coordination and specialist office and can be contacted by anyone interested in the project.

Shaping the future together

We invite active citizens, young people, clubs and associations to get involved in our "Partnership for Democracy Offenbach" in line with the objectives mentioned. We want to reach young Offenbach residents in particular. We want to support them in shaping their and our future in a free, peaceful, democratic and respectful (urban) society. And despite all the cultural, religious and social differences in our city, we want to find a common thread that unites us in Offenbach and motivates us to stand up for shared values based on our constitution.

Would you like to participate in the Offenbach Partnership for Democracy or even set up a project? - Then please visit the partnership's website at demokratie-offenbach.de (opens in a new tab) for more information.

Who or what is the Partnership for Democracy? PfD in an interview with "Der Fabulant"

Much of what is spread in the so-called "rabbit hole" is directed against a peaceful, democratic and respectful society. "The rabbit hole is a metaphor for people - especially on the internet - immersing themselves deeper and deeper in a particular topic, losing themselves in it and possibly being influenced by conspiracy myths and false and disinformation.

This makes it all the more important that, despite all cultural, religious and social differences, our democracy is filled with new life every day. And this is precisely what Partnerships for Democracies are committed to - not only in Offenbach but throughout Germany. Laura Schulz and Daniel Krüger from the Partnership for Democracy City of Offenbach am Main provide insights into their work.

The "Fabulant" is a project by modus|zad. The portal aims to shed light on conspiracy narratives. At the heart of the portal are regularly published reviews of established and emerging conspiracy narratives and disinformation. Inspired by Lewis Carroll's White Rabbit from "Alice in Wonderland", the "Fabulist" appears as a fictional character who knows the "Rabbit Hole" like the back of his hand.
