Workshop promoted exchange on democratic values and participation

26.02.2024 – Under the motto "LIVING democracy!", the Mosaik Kulturzentrum association provided a platform for participants to explore the basic principles of democracy.

The "Fundamentals of Democracy" workshop was offered interactively and was aimed at all citizens who are interested in democratic processes and want to learn more about their rights and duties. The workshop was funded as a micro-project by the Partnership for Democracy City of Offenbach am Main as part of the federal program "Live Democracy!" of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and the state program "Hesse - active for democracy and against extremism" of the Hessian Ministry of the Interior and Sport.

The Partnership for Democracy Offenbach am Main is committed to promoting democracy and countering extremism. It is organized by the DRK Kreisverband Offenbach e.V. on behalf of the City of Offenbach am Main, Municipal Prevention Office, which is part of the Public Order Office.

The event took place at the Ostpol Gründercampus Offenbach under the direction of speaker Patrick Zimmer, who always focuses his workshops on strengthening human rights-based attitudes and civic engagement. Zimmer was supported by project manager Banu Tufan, who also organized an excursion to the Neu-Isenburg City Museum. The "1848. For Democracy and Human Rights" exhibition there provided an insight into the historical development of democracy and human rights.

A trip to the Hessian state parliament in Wiesbaden concluded the series of events. There, the participants were able to experience parliamentary work at first hand and gain an insight.
