Police speed cameras in the city

22.04.2024

The public order office checked speeds at nine locations in the city last Friday.

On the occasion of the Europe-wide speed camera marathon last Friday, April 19, four employees of the public order office carried out checks in the Offenbach city area. A total of 2110 vehicles were recorded and 85 speeding violations were detected, resulting in a complaint rate of 4 percent. The average complaint rate for speed measurements is 10 percent. The offense rate is the ratio of all vehicles measured to those that were speeding. No driving bans had to be imposed. Higher warnings and fines, which have been imposed for speeding since the last amendment to the StVO, may have contributed to this.

Overall, the public order office once again significantly increased its checks in the Offenbach city area at the end of 2023 and beginning of 2024. Since the beginning of 2024, the city has had two enforcement trailers, three measuring vehicles with the corresponding technology and seven stationary traffic monitoring systems.

In the first quarter of 2024, 29,288 parking offences and 10,710 speeding offences were detected. In the previous year 2023, a total of 99,185 parking offences and 44,473 speeding offences were prosecuted by the public order office.

After the Easter vacations, many schoolchildren were out and about again, especially in the mornings when it is still dark. For the public order office, this was an opportunity to appeal to road users to pay particular attention on the roads and comply with parking regulations and speed limits, and to carry out checks on both stationary and moving traffic. Head of department Frank Weber emphasizes: "Areas with a higher risk potential are a priority for traffic monitoring. We will therefore be stepping up parking behavior and speed checks again, particularly in front of schools, and punishing offenders."
