Two new volunteer police assistants on duty in Offenbach

They are uniformed, show presence, observe and report - but above all, the volunteers of the volunteer police service are there to advise and assist citizens. With Viktoria Miller and Levent Tuncyürekli, two newly trained police assistants are now on duty in Offenbach to support the work of the police and public order authorities. The importance of their work was demonstrated, for example, during a recent police arrest of a young suspected shoplifter in Offenbach, who was prevented from escaping by the volunteer police service.
The two new recruits were trained together with four other volunteers who are out and about in the Offenbach district. During their 52 hours of training, they learned the legal basis for the service and gained exciting insights into the work of the police. Other training topics included operational training, understanding roles, communication and behavioral training. The successful graduates of the training course were welcomed at a small reception at the South East Hesse Police Headquarters in the presence of city representatives. In future, they will mostly be on foot patrol and will be visually recognizable thanks to their uniform. The police assistants receive an expense allowance from the respective municipalities for their voluntary work.
