Positive outcome of dog control days in Offenbach
07.08.2025
In the second quarter of 2025, the city police and waste investigators from the public order office carried out dog checks. They were out and about at various locations in the Offenbach city area on several days. A total of 149 four-legged friends and their owners were checked. There were complaints about only 13 dogs. "With just under 9 percent of infringements detected, the result is definitely positive," said Gesine Wambach, Head of the Public Order Office, expressing her satisfaction.
Six of the 13 infringements alone related to dogs being kept off the lead, which resulted in a warning fine of 55 euros. In four cases, the owner did not have a dog waste bag with them and in two cases the four-legged friend was not registered for tax purposes.
One of the dog walkers had neither registered his dog with the municipal tax office nor did he have a dog waste bag with him. The dog was also not on a lead. In addition to two administrative offense proceedings, this dog owner can now expect a hefty back tax payment.
A gentleman was caught red-handed when he did not remove his dog's droppings. He was asked to pay a fine of 150 euros. It would have been even more expensive if the mishap had not occurred on the sidewalk near Martin Luther Park, as in this case, but on a sunbathing lawn or playground, for example.
"Even though the result may sound positive, we will not rest on our laurels. After all, even one dog owner who does not follow the rules can, for example, contribute to considerable soiling in their living environment. That is why, in addition to the regular small waste checks, further dog checks are already planned for the third quarter of 2025," concludes Wambach.
