Defect notifier used over 12,000 times in 2023

On the roadside in Offenbach, you notice illegal garbage or a broken sign, a faulty traffic light or a pothole. This year, the city received more than 12,000 such reports via the Offenbach defect detector. Most of the reports were entered directly via smartphone. This has the advantage that the app transmits the exact location and the city employees can therefore be navigated directly to the location of the incident using the navigation function.
The highest number of reports was for illegal waste or bulky waste. "There's everything from cars to clothes horse and pieces of wood, electric stoves and carpets. Shopping carts also seem to end up on unknown routes in the city area particularly frequently," explains Christian Broos from the Clean Offenbach Stabsstelle, who is responsible for the defect report. Since this year, all neighborhood walkers from the district offices and the waste investigators from the public order office have been equipped with a smartphone and also use the defect detector to report observations.
Illegal waste or bulky waste was reported 8546 times, potholes and damage to sidewalks around 1002 times and dirty sidewalks 517 times. Vehicles without license plates were reported a further 509 times.
The Offenbach defect reporter can be installed as an app on any smartphone. It is used to submit photos and reports, while the necessary data on the location is also sent. All information is available at:
