City of Offenbach

Offenbach Cleanliness Week with strong participation

09.10.2025

Offenbach Cleanliness Week took place for the first time from 20 to 27 September - with great success: over 300 committed citizens took part in the city-wide campaign, which was organized by the "Sauberes Offenbach" (Clean Offenbach) Stabsstelle together with the Stadtwerke Offenbach resource and waste advisory service, the Mathildenviertel, Nordend, Senefelderquartier and Lauterborn district offices and the public order office. The initiative is part of the city's "RespectOffenbach!" campaign, which aims to raise awareness for a clean and liveable cityscape.

In a total of 16 organized groups - as well as numerous individual campaigns - streets, squares, parks and playgrounds were cleared of carelessly discarded garbage. The main items collected were cigarette butts, packaging, plastic bottles and paper, but also larger items such as bicycle tires, old tires and other large objects. In addition to the district offices, many private initiatives and local companies also took part, with their employees getting involved. The largest collection group this year was once again the Oswald-von-Nell-Breuning School, Department 3, with over 60 volunteers who cleaned up the school grounds and surrounding areas.

Head of Public Order Paul-Gerhard Weiß was impressed by the commitment of the Offenbach residents: "I am very pleased with the high level of participation. My special thanks go to all the volunteers who worked so hard for our city." Christian Broos, Head of the "Clean Offenbach" Stabsstelle, also draws a positive conclusion: "In future, the Offenbach Cleanliness Week will take place every year in September - similar to the Offenbach Spring Clean in March. Both events should become a permanent fixture in the city's calendar."

Anyone who missed the campaign week does not have to wait until next year: you can organize your own clean-up campaigns or join existing groups at any time.

Even those who are unable to collect waste themselves have the opportunity to make a contribution: illegal waste deposits can be reported quickly and easily via the Offenbacher Mängelmelder app. This allows the city to react in a targeted manner and remove littering promptly.
