City of Offenbach

Weekly report from February 16 to 22, 2026

23.02.2026

Disturbance of the peace

There were a total of 22 disturbances. Four of these were in the commercial sector and mostly related to loud music coming from restaurants.

Helpless persons

The city police took care of two helpless people this week.

Traffic

The traffic police carried out checks at 19 different locations using mobile speed measuring devices. In 94 cases, warnings or fines were issued for exceeding the speed limit.

A total of 29 vehicles had to be towed away due to significant traffic disruptions. These included blocked fire department access roads and entrances and exits, blocked parking spaces on bends or unauthorized parking spaces for the disabled. The city police also recorded 1,566 incorrectly parked vehicles.

A large proportion of the vehicles towed away were due to the carnival parade in Bürgel. Many owners did not adhere to the traffic bans there. The municipal police and traffic police tried to identify as many owners as possible by ringing the doorbells at their addresses. In 17 cases, however, no person could be identified, so they had to have the vehicles towed away.

For the Offenbach registration office, 16 new motor vehicles were registered for compulsory deregistration. This usually concerns vehicles for which the insurance or tax has not been paid or which are no longer roadworthy due to significant defects. In addition, the municipal police carried out four investigations at the respective residential addresses of vehicle owners on behalf of other authorities.

Patrol service and emergency response

The social welfare office asked for help as one person was no longer responding to letters. Nothing could be found out about the person's whereabouts via hospitals and the rescue coordination center. The municipal police therefore went to the apartment and opened it using a key they had. They found the man dead on his bed. As the body was already mummified, it is assumed that the man had already died several months ago. The regional police were called in and the scene was handed over to them.

The heavy snowfall on Thursday morning was also a challenge for the city police. There were four call-outs due to fallen trees or large branches. In some cases, footpaths were blocked and a mobile home was also damaged. The patrols initiated the necessary measures.

A man reported a dispute with his ex-girlfriend's son. He wanted to force his way into the apartment to take a shower. On site, the patrol met the man, a neighbor who had come to his aid and the reported son. The informant stated that he no longer wanted any contact with him as there had been several problems in the past. It was possible to mediate between the parties. The ex-girlfriend's son was expelled from the house.

A group of people were reported to be mobbing a person in Hermann-Steinhäuser-Straße. On the scene, the patrol encountered a rapper who is well-known in professional circles. He was filming a music video together with a larger group of people. The group was checked and after the check the people were instructed to leave the location and move the video shoot to a private area.

An intoxicated man was jaywalking. He had no identification documents with him and a breath alcohol test showed 1.86 per mille. As a further check revealed that the man was presumably in the EU illegally, the state police were called in.

Operations and events

The municipal police deployed a total of 17 officers to the carnival parade in Bürgel. Several posts were manned to cordon off and direct traffic, and an intervention and security team was also kept on hand in the area of the main route in case of disputes or medical emergencies. After the procession, the emergency services accompanied the celebrations on the surrounding roads and cleared the road area after a reasonable time to enable the road to be cleaned and traffic to be reopened. A young woman had been celebrating with a little too much alcohol. The municipal police provided first aid until the ambulance arrived. In the early morning, a patrol accompanied the traditional wake-up call of the marching band.

The municipal police were called to a party canvassing stand that was being harassed by a group of people. A group of around 25 people formed a ring around an election information stand on Wilhelmsplatz, preventing direct access. The people wore face masks and carried banners with political slogans. A woman from the group identified herself as the person responsible and announced a spontaneous demonstration. After consultation with the assembly authorities, it was decided that the people had to leave the area of the duly registered election stand. They were allocated a space about 15 meters away for the spontaneous demonstration. After repeated requests, the people finally complied with the order peacefully and in an orderly manner.

Investigations and lost property

The municipal police carried out two residence investigations at the request of public offices and authorities. This primarily involves checks on cohabiting couples and cases in which urgent official mail could not be delivered due to a missing letterbox and/or doorbell.

The municipal police took in several lost and found items during the lost and found office's closing times this week. If lost, please contact fundbuerooffenbachde.
