City of Offenbach

Weekly report February 26 to March 3, 2024

04.03.2024

Disturbance of the peace

In the ninth week of the year, the number of disturbances of the peace increased significantly compared to the previous weeks. The city police had to intervene a total of 32 times in restaurants, private homes and public squares due to disturbances of the peace. One possible cause could have been the mild weather at the end of February.

Helpless persons

The number of people reported as helpless also increased. The city police helped 14 people and had to call an ambulance in six cases. The most common cause of helplessness was excessive alcohol consumption. One case involved a bicycle accident.

Traffic

The technical traffic service and the traffic police carried out checks at 35 different measuring points using mobile speed measuring devices. This resulted in a warning or fine for exceeding the speed limit in 413 cases.

A warning or fine was issued to 2,341 vehicles or their owners due to parking offences or other traffic violations in stationary traffic.

The Offenbach registration office registered 69 new vehicles for de-stamping. This relates to vehicles for which the insurance and/or tax had not been paid. In addition, the city police had to investigate the drivers in 35 cases of red light or speeding violations.

Citizens reported more than 100 cases of significant traffic disruptions, such as blocked fire department access roads and entrances and exits, blocked parking on bends and parking spaces for the severely disabled that were blocked by unauthorized persons. The city police had 12 vehicles towed away and issued a large number of expensive warnings.

During a stop check, three of the four vehicle occupants were not wearing seat belts. The city police imposed corresponding fines.

Regulatory police matters

The city police had to be called out twice because a woman was verbally and physically attacking another person. She was eventually taken into custody.

A report of liquid and foam leaking from a cellar turned out to be a burst water pipe. As the damage could not be repaired immediately, the water had to be turned off temporarily.

An electronic amplifier was used at a rally. As there was no permit for this, further use was prohibited.

Following a tip-off, the city police caught a person illegally disposing of bulky waste. She faces a hefty fine.

A disinfectant dispenser was on fire in a school. However, the firefighters and municipal police officers who were called did not have to intervene as teachers had already extinguished the small fire.

A helpless person who also had an emergency bracelet with them came to the station. The person was cared for and returned to inpatient care after a successful search.

A practice knife, which was sharp, had to be seized from one person for security reasons.

The municipal police were called to an illegal tree felling. They took the personal details of the person responsible and prepared a report for the Environmental Agency.

A dispute arose over a bill in a restaurant. The municipal police were able to intervene. The guest paid his bill and left the pub.

Residence investigations

At the request of public offices and authorities, the municipal police carried out 45 residence investigations. This primarily involves checks on cohabiting couples and cases in which urgent official mail could not be delivered due to a missing letterbox and/or doorbell.

Lost property

The city police took in a total of six lost property items, including wallets and ID cards, during the closing times of the lost and found office this week. If lost, please contact fundbuerooffenbachde.
