Disturbance of the peace
We are approaching the middle of the year and the number of noise disturbances remains at a high level. This time, 18 of the 45 calls for noise complaints were made on Saturday night. One of the complaints turned out to be a couple making love loudly.
Traffic
During this working week, the technical traffic service and the traffic police measured speed at 42 measuring points and initiated proceedings for exceeding the speed limit in 465 cases.
There was one warning each for incorrect parking or other traffic violations for 1702 vehicles or their owners.
The Offenbach registration office registered 30 new vehicles for de-stamping. In total, citizens reported 40 cases of significant traffic obstructions, blocked driveways, parking spaces for the severely disabled, construction sites or temporary stopping bans (e.g. for construction work or removals). The city police had to have 26 vehicles towed away.
Due to persistent and justified complaints about noise, littering and boorish behavior, the city police and state police check the Walter Spiller Bridge several times a day. The bridge has now been closed to through traffic as a building is currently being demolished on the Nordring side. The construction site will soon be dismantled.
Helpless persons
There have been many alcohol-related incidents this week. Among other things, the city police were called to restrain a drunk man who was indiscriminately throwing glass bottles around. Another man was ordered to leave because he was accosting passers-by. When the city police approached him, he began to lash out. In a daycare center, the employees expelled a drunk man from the center. He sat down in front of the door and continued drinking so that the city police had to intervene. During Offenbach Week, an intoxicated passer-by took his anger out on the operator of a beer stand, whom he insulted savagely. Several bawling and rowdy men were asked to moderate their behavior, while an alcoholic with a blood alcohol level of 3.91 per mille, who was well known to the patrols, suffered an epileptic seizure and ended up in an ambulance again. The driver of a car driving in serpentine lines through the city was not drunk. During the check, he behaved very provocatively and boasted that he was now allowed to drive again after losing his license due to alcohol. He only wanted to be stopped once without a corresponding alcohol level.
A group of men used the newly designed bus stop with the leafy canopy on the market square as a storage area and drank alcohol there. After being sent off several times, the men were convinced that the passenger waiting area was not the right place for a meeting.
Patrol service and emergency response
Unfortunately, there was another incident involving a knife during an argument in Herrnstraße this week. The four suspects fled. However, the patrols of the city and state police were able to arrest them in a bar after a short escape.
The allegedly worried and desperate man, who approached the patrol and described that his ex-wife was being beaten by his new partner, turned out to be a stalker who had already been banned from approaching and who was trying to make life difficult for his ex-wife in this way.
Using cell phone tracking and two patrols, a woman reported missing by her son was found on the banks of the Main who had left her home by bike despite having dementia and would probably not have found her way back on her own.
Parking garages and underground garages are often the scene of police operations. For example, young people who had consumed laughing gas were expelled from a parking garage. In the underground car park at the Stadthaus, there was a short-term eviction because someone sprayed pepper spray there, which led to coughing and a few tears.
As it is still the breeding and setting season, no major pruning of trees and bushes is permitted. There were various complaints and interventions. Most gardeners showed understanding after being reminded of the animal welfare rules. However, one tree reported as rotten was secured by the municipal police for safety reasons and felled by the fire department.
In the warmer months of the year, homeless people are increasingly visible in public spaces. Due to the repeated rain, some of them spent the night in underground garages or in vehicles. They were asked by the respective owners to look for other places or to use the municipal assistance services. In the event of acute homelessness, there is a competent contact person (Alexander Kratz) at the Public Order Office on 069 8065-3166 and , if necessary, temporary accommodation. One lady made excessive use of the hotel provided and refused to leave the hotel on the third night by simply locking herself in and not responding to calls. She then left the hotel the next day.
Together with customs, known collection points for day laborers were checked with regard to the required work permits and social insurance. During the regular checks of various restaurants, illegal gambling equipment was again found and confiscated. Illegal employees without valid residence permits were also found here.
Meetings and events
Two very staff-intensive events took place this week: the Kettler Run and Offenbach Week. Top-class bands were engaged for the Offenbach Week supporting program, which attracted many spectators. The Kettler Run traditionally attracts a large number of participants.
Foot patrol
The city police spent many hours on foot patrol in the pedestrian zone, focusing on the harbor area, Komm Center Offenbach and the surrounding schools. Once again, a number of complaints were received.
The cooperation patrol of the city and state police, which is on the road together for six hours a day in the city area, has been well received and is highly visible. A lot of presence is shown here with foot patrols, but joint checks of restaurants, paths and squares are also part of the program.
Lost property
As usual, the city police took in many items, especially cell phones, payment cards and wallets, during the closing times of the lost and found office this week. If lost, please contact fundbuerooffenbachde.
