Weekly report January 1 to 7, 2024

In the first week of January, the focus was on the flooding situation on the banks of the Main. There was a risk that reporting level II would be reached and the area in front of the Main would have to be evacuated. Parked vehicles in particular would have been affected. For this reason, the city police regularly checked the area in front of the Main and monitored the water levels electronically. Fortunately, it was not necessary to intervene as only level I was reached.

There were only a few disturbances of the peace in the first calendar week of the new year. The city police only had to intervene nine times due to disturbances of the peace in restaurants and private homes. In two incidents, however, the disturbances were so severe that the events had to be broken up.

In Domstrasse, the city police had to break up a loud music party. After an initial check, the music was turned down, but shortly after the city police had left the area, it was turned up again. The event was therefore broken up after the second operation at around 01:00.

There was a disturbance of the peace in a pub in Hermannstraße. The operator was not on site, instead the city police found a person without a work permit. The pub was therefore cleared and closed by the municipal police.

The technical traffic service and the traffic police carried out speed measurements at 20 different locations. In 192 cases, fines were imposed for speeding. There were 1013 warnings for parking offences or other traffic violations.

A total of 38 cases of parking that severely obstructed traffic were reported to the city police this week. These included blocked fire department access roads, entrances and exits, parked-up bends and unauthorized parking spaces for the disabled. As a result, 12 vehicles had to be towed away and many expensive warnings issued. One vehicle was checked due to a lack of load securing and appropriate measures were taken.
Traffic problems regularly occur on the port deck due to parking offenders. The entire port area, including the Walter Spiller Bridge, is therefore regularly inspected. On one evening, 14 warnings were issued there and the bridge was cleared by the city police.

In Parkstraße, a vehicle was found to be leaking a considerable amount of diesel. The diesel spill was removed and the vehicle was towed away by the city police as it was no longer roadworthy.

The Offenbach registration office registered 32 new vehicles for de-stamping. The city police also carried out 34 on-the-spot investigations for red light or speeding violations.

This week, the city police helped eight helpless people, five of whom had to be taken to hospital by ambulance.
One rioting male was heavily intoxicated and had no identification documents on him - he was taken to the police station.

A local resident called to report a fallen construction fence. Several construction fence elements were lying on the sidewalk, but were not obstructing traffic. The patrol car crew put the fence back up and secured it.

In a supermarket, a customer refused to leave after being asked to do so by the management. After being banned from the premises, the person continued to refuse to leave the store. The city police politely but firmly reprimanded the person.

In the Mathildenviertel, the city police settled a heated dispute that was apparently triggered by the placement of bulky waste.

In Bieber, a patrol collected loose lane dividers and in the city center, street musicians with amplifiers were expelled from the square, as street music with electronic amplification is prohibited without a permit.

As an independent city, Offenbach has its own weapons authority. The city police regularly accept found weapons or collect weapons. Before the order is executed, a thorough safety check is carried out to ensure that no shot is fired. The municipal police officers have extensive knowledge of weapons and can check them professionally for their loading condition.
The municipal police assisted with a house clearance, where three weapons were collected and stored safely in the safe until the responsible weapons authority was back on duty and could take over the weapons.

In an estate matter in Rumpenheim, 19 handguns and five long guns were collected by the municipal police and handed over to the weapons authority with a report.

At the request of public offices and authorities, the municipal police carried out 47 residence investigations. This primarily involves verifying marital partnerships and cases in which urgent mail could not be delivered.
