Weekly report from May 19 to 25, 2025
26.05.2025
Disturbance of the peace
There were 17 call-outs due to disturbances, four of which were in the commercial sector. One of the reported disturbances was so severe that the patrol decided to briefly disconnect the apartment from the power supply via the fuse box. After that, it was quiet, but the culprit still did not open the door.
The friendly invitation from the ladies of the handball club's end-of-season party, which was taking place on the balcony of a residential building, to perform as a ballroom dancer had to be turned down by the patrol with a wink.
Helpless persons
The municipal police had to organize assistance for nine helpless people. One person was admitted to the psychiatric ward of the Sana Hospital due to mental distress and was forcibly detained there.
Traffic
The traffic police recorded a total of 412 speeding vehicles at 59 measuring points and initiated corresponding proceedings.
A warning or fine was issued to 2,557 vehicles or their owners for parking offences or other traffic violations in stationary traffic.
The city police recorded 42 requests from the registration office to unstamp uninsured vehicles.
In addition to the warnings issued by the traffic police, the municipal police were deployed in 31 cases of acute traffic offences. These included, in particular, parking offenders in disabled parking spaces, in front of fire department access roads, on the weekly market site or in temporary no-stopping zones, for example for construction work, tree-cutting measures or removals. 19 vehicles were towed away.
Criminal proceedings were initiated against two e-scooter drivers without a valid insurance license plate for violating the Compulsory Insurance Act.
Security and preventive measures
A patrol noticed a fire in a first floor apartment. After the patrol took initial action, the fire department arrived shortly afterwards.
A team of vehicles with a car on the trailer aroused the interest of a patrol on Monday. The van had various defects, was illegally transporting a large quantity of petrol in canisters that were inadequately secured and could not show any proof of ownership for the loaded car. In addition to a higher security deposit for the administrative offenses, the city police seized the car due to the unclear ownership situation.
During a follow-up inspection of a kiosk, a large quantity of cans without a deposit and a number of drinks and foodstuffs with expired best-before dates were again found.
The inspection of another kiosk on the occasion of a disturbance of the peace revealed a collection of violations. The operator was not on site and had left a minor behind as an absentee representative to sell alcohol and cigarettes. A dormitory had been set up inside the kiosk for four people, one of whom was wanted on a warrant and the other three were required to leave the country. Several illegally installed slot machines completed the abuses of the store, which was also operating without a business license.
The improper handling of a handcuff led one man to the city police station, where he asked to be released. The handcuff was so tight that his hand was already swollen. The cheap model could not be opened by the city police officers' keys, so the fire department had to take over.
A day of checks at the locations that regularly receive complaints from citizens resulted in two uniformed and one civilian patrol, 55 fines for various offenses in front of schools, green spaces or at no-passing zones, two fines according to street regulations and one report for cannabis consumption near youth facilities.
A patrol noticed a young man who was in the process of spraying the bus stop there with a spray can. After arresting him, questioning witnesses and analyzing the video recordings from the market square, the city police were able to assign the sprayer to other suspected crime scenes. Of course, the perpetrator's typical "tag" also contributed to this.
After a person reported to the city police station and stated that he had been beaten up on the Main forecourt, the search for the perpetrators was unsuccessful for the time being.
A scooter in the sandpit of a playground reported via the Offenbach defect detector turned out to be stolen property.
During a small waste check, a total of 19 violations against, among other things, snorting fags and throwing packaging on the ground were fined. In addition, two dog controls, three school route controls, two can deposit controls, four enforcements of house rules, one expulsion and the mediation of six disputes took place.
A total of 198 operations were registered by the municipal police this week.
