Weekly report from June 24 to 30, 2024

The last week of the first half of the year brought the city police this year's record of 55 reported disturbances of the peace. One disturbance of the peace turned out to be a massive assault and robbery, in another case the musical accompaniment to a funeral led to a complaint.

The technical traffic service and the traffic police carried out speed checks at a total of 31 measuring points. 392 people were speeding and can now expect a fine.

A warning was issued to 1,601 vehicles or their owners for parking offences or other traffic violations.

The Offenbach registration office registered 38 new vehicles for de-stamping. Citizens reported 75 cases of significant traffic obstructions, including blocked driveways, parking spaces for the severely disabled, roadworks or temporary bans on stopping. The city police had 24 vehicles towed away.

There were many written warnings at the Beethoven School because "parent cabs" were parking on the crosswalks set up for the pupils.

The city police were called to a total of 17 suspected helpless people. Most of them were drunk but able to cope on their own. Sometimes the city police have to call an ambulance or take the person away to sober up. A man who crossed Berliner Straße several times without paying attention to the traffic was no longer able to walk. His alcohol level of 3.15 per mille required treatment. Not helpless, but obviously seriously confused was a man on Marktplatz who, according to passers-by, repeatedly gave the Hitler salute and shouted slogans to that effect. In addition to other exceptional psychological situations, this case presumably also involves severe Tourette's syndrome. Another confused man set fire to a pile of bulky waste for unknown reasons. The fire was extinguished early.

The week started with two animal matters: An injured fox was handed over to the gamekeeper and cared for by him. It was not possible to find out who had put the ducklings in a cardboard box on the banks of the Main, but they were also well looked after.

The city police had to intervene in a number of criminal offenses and call in the state police. For example, a seller of suspected counterfeit cell phones and perfume was apprehended in the pedestrian zone and is now facing several prosecutions for fraud and acting without a travel trade license. An employee of the inspection service of the municipal transport company was injured by a fare dodger during an inspection. A man was provisionally arrested at Schultheißweiher for sexually harassing a woman in the naturist area.

A woman called the city police for help because a visitor became abusive and refused to leave.

During the regular checks of catering establishments, violations of the protection of minors, the approved outdoor seating and illegal gambling machines were discovered.

The city police had to remind two building owners of their traffic safety obligations, as parts of the façade and roof were falling onto the sidewalk. On one construction site, the loading of massive concrete parts with the help of an excavator was also not secured, so that passers-by walked under the excavator's gripper arm despite the considerable danger.

Many small events and gatherings were also accompanied by the municipal police. There were no particular disturbances. The motorcade following Turkey's entry into the knockout round of the European Championships had to be tamed somewhat after some time, but was reasonably orderly and posed no discernible danger to pedestrians or other road users.

The city police spent many hours on foot patrol in the pedestrian zone, focusing on the harbor area, Komm Center Offenbach and the surrounding schools. Once again, a number of complaints were received.

The cooperation patrol of the city and state police, which is on the road together for six hours a day in the city area, has been well received and is highly visible. A lot of presence is shown here with foot patrols, and joint checks of restaurants, paths and squares are also part of the program.
