18.08.2025
Disturbance of the peace
In total, the city police intervened 60 times this week in cases of disturbances of the peace, ten of which were in the commercial sector.
Helpless persons
The municipal police were called to six helpless people. The emergency services were called out in several cases.
One helpless person was lying behind a parked van. The person had a blood alcohol level of two per mille and was unable to make it home on their own, which is why they were taken to hospital.
Traffic measures
This week, employees from the public order office and the traffic police carried out speed checks at 35 different locations. There were 314 violations, which resulted in warnings or fines. 1,957 vehicles parked incorrectly or violated other traffic regulations this week.
The Offenbach registration office registered 33 new vehicles for de-stamping. This usually concerns vehicles whose insurance or tax has not been paid.
A total of 19 cases of significant traffic disruptions were reported to the city police this week, such as blocked fire department access roads, entrances and exits, parked-up bends and parking spaces for the severely disabled.
Security measures/preventive controls
A false license plate on a car caught the attention of a patrol. The license plate attached to the vehicle, which was still registered, belonged to another vehicle. Since a car together with the sealed license plate constitutes a document, attaching license plates to other cars is forgery. The city police confiscated the license plate. The vehicle owner faces criminal charges.
A man obstructed the onward journey of a bus with large amounts of luggage. While the man was loading the luggage onto the bus, the bus driver took the opportunity to unload the luggage and close the bus doors. The man then hit the vehicle and insulted the driver. A patrol observed the situation. They confronted the man, but he did not show any understanding and also insulted the police officers and refused to show his ID. When he raised his hand threateningly, the city police handcuffed the man. The city police finally obtained the man's personal details at the city police station. After the police measures were completed, the man was ordered to leave the premises.
A woman called the city police for help because her adult son was rioting in the apartment. On the scene, the police found the man in a state of mental distress and the apartment was also partially damaged. Due to his condition, the municipal police took the man to a psychiatric facility.
The city police pursued an e-scooter driver who was clearly exceeding the speed limit of 20 kilometers per hour. When the vehicle was checked, it turned out that the vehicle's display showed American miles per hour, which corresponds to a speed of around 33 kilometers per hour. The vehicle is not permitted on German roads. The patrol seized the scooter. The driver faces criminal charges.
A rowdy person caused the city police to be called out early on Thursday morning. A man was kicking parked cars and shouting loudly. Immediately after the emergency services arrived, the man approached them aggressively. The man ignored instructions to keep his distance. The situation only eased when the municipal police handcuffed the man. The man was in an acute psychological emergency situation, which made it necessary to place him in a specialist clinic.
A major fire in Hanauer Straße also kept the city police on their toes for several hours. The city police closed the street to allow the fire department to work undisturbed. After five hours in the blazing summer heat, the fire was extinguished and the cordoning off measures were completed.
As a customer in a pub had already collapsed twice, the landlord called an ambulance. However, the guest refused to be examined by the emergency services, which is why the municipal police had to be called in, as the guest's life was in danger. The patrol managed to persuade the man to go to the hospital. On the way there, the rescue coordination center again requested the help of the city police because the man tried to get out of the ambulance during the journey. At the hospital, the man also refused to leave the ambulance. Finally, the emergency services managed to persuade the man to allow himself to be examined. A doctor diagnosed acute blood poisoning and transferred him to the intensive care unit.
