City of Offenbach

Weekly report from September 1 to 7, 2025

12.09.2025

Disturbance of the peace

The municipal police responded to 41 incidents, including ten in the commercial sector.

Helpless persons

The city police organized help for five people, and the emergency services were called out in several cases.

Traffic measures

The traffic police recorded 442 speeding vehicles at 46 measuring points and initiated proceedings.

1722 vehicles received warnings or fines for parking violations or other infringements in stationary traffic.

The city police processed 47 requests from the registration office to de-stamp uninsured vehicles.

14 cars were towed away, the others received an expensive warning.

In addition, the city police investigated 36 drivers at the respective residential addresses of the vehicle owners because they had not paid their fines for running a red light or speeding.

One driver parked again on the opposite side of the road in the second row after receiving an initial warning. When approached, the driver reacted aggressively and disagreeably. During the check, the person carelessly threw several objects such as the safety vest on the ground. Several charges followed, which will lead to a review of the driver's fitness to drive during the probationary period and a report to the relevant driving license office.

Security measures / preventive controls

A woman phoned the city police to report that she had locked herself out while her two-year-old daughter was alone in the apartment. A patrol managed to open the apartment using the appropriate tools without causing any major damage. The worried mother was visibly relieved, but the woman refused to be examined by the emergency services.

A man called the city police because he had presumably found poison bait. However, a patrol quickly gave the all-clear, as it was just an overripe banana with wooden toothpicks stuck in it.

The state police asked the city police for help with an escaped dog in the area of the stadium. The unattended dog was found on site. After consulting with the fire department, which ensures the transportation of found animals, it turned out that the dog's owner was already known from previous cases. Although the patrol found the dog owner at his home, the man only agreed to catch his dog himself after being threatened with legal consequences. This was followed by reports to the veterinary office and a complaint.

A patrol stopped a vehicle and checked the driver because he was driving with license plates he had painted himself. The driver handed over several vehicle documents and a non-EU driver's license. The city police asked the cooperation patrol of the state police for assistance. During the check, the driver's brother joined them and behaved aggressively, which is why the man was ordered to leave the scene. A patrol officer noticed that the person got into a vehicle registered abroad and wanted to drive away. The officers also carried out a check here. The man also handed over a non-EU driver's license. Driving without a license was also suspected in this case. Both people were taken to the police station. Driving licenses not issued in the European Union must be rewritten no later than six months after entry, otherwise they lose their validity.

Witnesses reported a sexual assault at the Marktplatz bus stop. On the scene, a patrol encountered the drunk perpetrator, the person involved and several witnesses. The city police took the people involved to the city police station one by one and handed them over to the state police for further investigation.

Two people were reported to the city police who were staying in a private courtyard without permission. On site, a patrol encountered two drunk men. One of the men was behaving aggressively and uncooperatively. The second person seriously disturbed the police officers during the inspection, which is why the municipal police requested a support patrol. The disruptive person was ordered to leave the premises by the municipal police. Even after repeated requests from the municipal police, the person refused to leave the area, which is why the order to leave had to be enforced by means of physical coercion. The other person tried to prevent the police from intervening. When the municipal police threatened to use pepper spray, the person withdrew. Both people were ordered to leave the private yard after the check was completed.

Due to a traffic violation, the city police stopped the driver of a car and checked him. The man behaved very aggressively: he was of the opinion that it was not the city police's job to carry out checks of this kind. After the municipal police had checked the driver's personal details, they asked the man to show all the items he was required to carry, such as the first aid kit. The man continued to make condescending comments during this process. The man then carelessly threw the first aid kit found in the trunk into his car. The man refused to check whether the kit had already expired. All de-escalating attempts by the city police were unsuccessful. Several charges for the traffic violations and a report to the relevant driving license authority will now follow.

As a patrol drove past a group of people, one of the individuals flashed his middle finger, prompting the patrol to carry out a personal check. The patrol asked the man why he had shown his middle finger, but he did not provide any explanation. The man also smelled strongly of alcohol and was behaving increasingly aggressively. Another person in the group began filming the control with a smartphone. Multiple instructions from the city police to move away were ignored. After a support patrol arrived, the situation calmed down and the municipal police were able to take the personal details of all the people. All those involved were ordered to leave the area and were released on the spot. During the course of the night, one of the people again attracted attention by shouting loudly on the market square. The patrols recognized several dangerous objects in his hands, which is why the emergency services intervened. Once the situation was under control, the city police discovered that the man was carrying a broken glass bottle and an iron bar about 30 centimetres long. The man's face and hands were also bleeding, so the city police called an ambulance. According to the man, he had been attacked by several people, which is why the city police immediately initiated search measures and handed over the investigation to the state police.

An 85-year-old woman disturbed a party. After initially behaving in a very friendly manner, the woman's behavior changed only a short time later. Both the guests at the event and the patrol officers were insulted by the woman. As she also tried to attack the police officers, the city police took the woman into custody and brought her to the city police station. There, the city police established the woman's personal details. The 85-year-old was unable to orientate herself in terms of time and place, which is why she was taken to hospital.
