City of Offenbach

Weekly report from September 29 to October 5

06.10.2025

Disturbance of the peace

The city police responded to 17 incidents, six of which were in the commercial sector.

During a disturbance, the situation between two groups of guests escalated during a check: Glasses were broken and the guests became increasingly aggressive, which is why the patrol called for assistance. The police finally separated the arguing groups, took the personal details of the conspicuous persons and then expelled them from the bar.

Helpless persons

The city police organized help for three people this week.

Traffic

The traffic police recorded a total of 39 speeding vehicles at 11 measuring points and initiated appropriate proceedings.

A warning or fine was issued to 1661 vehicles for parking violations or other traffic violations in stationary traffic.

The city police recorded 54 requests from the registration office for uninsured vehicles to be unstamped.

A total of 25 cars were towed away.

In addition, the city police investigated 23 drivers at the respective residential addresses of the vehicle owners because they had not paid their fines for running a red light or speeding.

Security / preventive controls

The veterinary office asked the city police for help with a suspected cat keeping violation. There were indications that a tenant of an apartment building was keeping a large number of cats in his apartment. In fact, the man was keeping a total of 29 cats on around 22 square meters, and the veterinary staff took them to appropriate care facilities.

A patrol noticed a scooter driver who was riding without a helmet and appeared distracted while driving. During a subsequent check, the city police discovered that the vehicle had been started without an ignition key using a screwdriver and external wiring. The scooter also had an expired license plate that did not belong to the vehicle. The driver stated that he had recently acquired the scooter in exchange for a smartphone. The driver initially gave false information about his personal details, which was refuted by an identity document that was found. The officers noticed that the man had glassy eyes, which is why they asked him to provide a urine sample. The man's urine was found to contain cannabis. Due to several criminal offenses such as suspected theft, driving without a license and insurance, driving under the influence of narcotics and giving false personal details, the city police handed the man over to the state police.

A witness reported several youths to the city police who had stretched a nylon cord across the sidewalk at head height on Weickertsblochstraße. On site, a patrol discovered an originally properly laid power cable belonging to Energienetze Offenbach (ENO), which had been altered in its position by unknown persons. The city police handed over the hazardous area to ENO.

A patrol noticed a vehicle driving without dipped headlights. The members of the municipal police tried to persuade the driver to switch on his headlights with hand signals. The driver did not react, instead he appeared distracted. The patrol followed the vehicle and switched on the patrol car's stop signal. Shortly afterwards, the driver attracted attention with his conspicuous and unsafe driving style: The vehicle swerved from left to right several times before finally stopping. Immediately afterwards, the passenger got out of the vehicle. When the emergency services approached the vehicle, they noticed that the driver and front passenger had swapped seats. The driver denied that he had been driving and stated that he had only been a passenger. During the check, the emergency services detected a strong odor of alcohol in the man. A breath alcohol test showed a value of 1.62 per mille. The man also admitted that he did not have a driver's license. The city police confiscated the car keys and parked the car on site. Blood was taken from the driver at the police station and he was charged with a criminal offense.

The city police carried out a traffic check after a car turned into a road against the direction of travel. During the check, the driver was unable to produce a driver's license or vehicle documents. The patrol noticed the smell of alcohol and an alcohol test revealed a blood alcohol level of 1.33 per mille. A more detailed examination of the woman revealed that a search warrant had been issued: the driver's license had been issued for confiscation. The city police took the woman to the police station and she was charged with drunk driving and driving without a license.
