Weekly report from November 18 to 24, 2024
25.11.2024
Disturbance of the peace
The 47th calendar week of the year was probably the "quietest" week of the year so far. Citizens reported only 11 cases of disturbances of the peace to the city police, 4 of which were in the hospitality industry and 7 in the private sector.
Helpless persons
The city police were called to only 7 people in distress. All people were helped with the support of the rescue services.
Traffic
Officers from the public order office and the traffic police carried out checks at 21 different measuring points using mobile speed measuring devices. This resulted in a warning or fine for exceeding the speed limit in only 75 cases.
A warning or fine was issued to 1,522 vehicles or their owners for parking offences or other traffic violations in stationary traffic.
The Offenbach registration office registered 56 new vehicles for de-stamping. This figure is exceptionally high. Apparently, many vehicle insurance policies are no longer paid at the end of the year. In addition, the city police identified 36 drivers at the respective residential addresses who had not paid their fines for running a red light or speeding.
Citizens reported 27 cases of serious traffic offences to the city police this week. The city police had 13 vehicles towed away.
Security/preventive controls
Due to repeated vandalism, the city police had to regularly check the toilet facilities on the market square.
On Monday, a patrol noticed a man throwing a street sign onto the road opposite the police station on Marktplatz. He fled when a patrol officer approached him. The patrol stopped the man and took him to the police station. He stated that he had been followed. However, no other persons could be identified. As there was a suspicion of illegal residence, the city police handed the man over to the state police.
A mother appeared at the police station on Wednesday. She said that a man had approached her son in the Große Marktstraße area. The city police found the man described and carried out an endangerment interview. As they were unable to establish any criminally relevant behavior, the man was released and a corresponding report was made to the criminal investigation department.
There were repeated false alarms this week. A man reported at around 8.18 p.m. on Thursday that his mother had fallen in the apartment, hit her head on the table and was now motionless. The patrol immediately dispatched was unable to find anyone at the address to open the door. The apartment was forced open with the assistance of the fire department. No one was in the apartment. Investigations revealed that the person in question was in hospital for rehabilitation and had not fallen. It is still unclear who may have triggered the false alarm. Over the course of the week, there were further false alarms, for example due to an alleged smell of gas. The police are now investigating the misuse of emergency calls.
In addition to various business checks in catering establishments, four school route checks were carried out again.
The municipal police also secured several hazardous areas and six oil spills, assisted four times in enforcing domestic authority and took action four times to protect private rights.
events
This week, the city police attended OFC's successful home match against SC Freiburg II, which ended 3:1.
