City of Offenbach

Weekly report from December 22 to 31, 2025

01.01.2026

Disturbance of the peace

In the week around Christmas and New Year's Eve, the number of disturbances rose to 35, of which only eight were in the commercial sector.

Helpless persons

The city police dealt with 16 helpless people this week. An ambulance also had to be called for some of them this week.

Traffic

The traffic police carried out checks at four different locations using mobile speed measuring devices. In 51 cases, warnings or fines were issued for exceeding the speed limit.

Five vehicles had to be towed away due to significant traffic disruptions. These included blocked fire department access roads as well as entrances and exits, blocked parking on bends or unauthorized parking spaces for the disabled. 914 incorrectly parked vehicles received a parking ticket.

For the Offenbach registration office, 49 new vehicles were registered for compulsory deregistration. This usually concerns vehicles for which the insurance or tax has not been paid or which are no longer roadworthy due to significant defects. In addition, the municipal police carried out six investigations at the respective residential addresses of vehicle owners on behalf of other authorities.

Patrol service / emergency response

A patrol noticed a vehicle that crossed the stop line at a red light. The patrol stopped the car and noticed the smell of alcohol when they approached the vehicle. The driver stated that he had only had one glass of beer. A voluntary breath test showed a value of 0.81 per mille. A recorded measurement with the calibrated breathalyzer at the state police station showed a value of 0.460 mg/l. The city police filed a report.

Three people in the area of Obermühlstraße / Seligenstädter Straße reported a vehicle that had been driving back and forth for some time. A patrol drove to the location and while talking to the informants, the vehicle slowly approached again. The driver was barely responsive. In the vehicle, beer cans lay open and ready to hand in the center console, another can was in the passenger footwell. The driver was extremely slow to respond to the patrol and smelled of alcohol. When the driver got out of the vehicle, he was staggering badly. He refused to take a breath test and stated on his own initiative that the vehicle was stolen. The state police were called in due to the suspected criminal offense.

When a patrol left the police station, they noticed a car parked in the driveway to the police station. Four to five men were standing around the vehicle. They were asked to remove the vehicle. The men did so. While maneuvering the patrol car, the patrol saw another man who was apparently crying at the bus stop near the side entrance to the city police station. The patrol got out and could see that the youth had obviously been attacked with an irritant. The youth confirmed that he had been sprayed with pepper spray. The perpetrators had already escaped. The patrol accompanied the boy to the city police station and at the same time a search of the area was initiated. The control center informed the state police and the emergency services. When the video surveillance system was viewed, the fugitives could be assigned to the group that had previously been at the car. The injured party was questioned by colleagues from the state police and no further treatment by the emergency services was necessary. The offending vehicle was found a few hours later in front of a club in Berliner Straße. It was a rental car. The driver stated that he had nothing to do with the crime. He had known nothing about it and had then tried to detain one of the passengers. The video footage showed that he got into his vehicle after the crime and drove away without giving the victim first aid or notifying the police, who were waiting directly behind him. Reports were written for the state police.

Someone reported loud arguments in an apartment, loud banging and shouting could be heard. The patrol drove quickly to the scene. Immediately after they arrived, a man made himself heard. He told the patrol that he had argued with his girlfriend and that she had left afterwards. She was mentally ill and a possible danger to herself and others could not be ruled out. There had been no possible bodily harm inside the apartment. While the patrol was taking down the description of the person, they saw a woman running towards the patrol with quick steps. She was very upset and aggressive. She was probably in an acute mental state of emergency. She did not comply with the request to identify herself. Instead, she tried to flee into the apartment. As the woman was shouting loudly, she was asked to calm down. However, she continued to react in a very agitated manner, shouted loudly and approached her colleagues in a threatening manner. She clenched her fist, in which she was holding a key, and punched a police officer in the back of the head. The officer was unable to fend off the blow and suffered a bleeding injury to the back of his head. In an attempt to restrain the woman, she continued to put up considerable resistance, kicking and punching with her fists. She hit the second colleague in the knee and stomach area. It took considerable effort to bring the woman under control. The requested support patrol arrived and led the woman out of the stairwell. She resisted again. The woman was finally taken to the police station by the state police. The city police officers in turn had to go to the Sana Clinic.

Disputes were reported in a supermarket. The municipal police found a man there. He did not want to leave the supermarket and resisted being escorted out. The man was ordered to leave and was taken to the city police station.

The city police were on duty at the Christmas market in the city center every day this week. There were no incidents worth mentioning.
