Mayor Dr. Felix Schwenke presented the German Sports Badges

21.11.2023

Ulrich Kaßburg and Dominik Biste, members of the Management Board of Sparkasse Offenbach, hosted the presentation of the German Sports Badge at the main branch. The savings banks are nationwide sponsors of the German Sports Badge. The Sports Foundation of Offenbacher Sparkasse supports the Sports Badge Day at Rosenhöhe by contributing to the costs such as putting up posters, catering for the helpers and paying the fee. Lord Mayor Dr. Felix Schwenke thanked the board of the Sparkasse for their support and presented the volunteers present with an OF gift: "Without the qualified commitment of the DSA examiners and helpers, this municipal event would not be possible, and I would like to thank you very much for that."

In addition to the Offenbach Sports Office, which organizes the sports badge day under the leadership of Marion Müller, 29 people from nine different clubs were involved. In addition, 1st Chairman Jörg Wagner from the Offenbach sports district and sports badge officer Mareike Bauer supported the volunteers.

Mayor Dr. Felix Schwenke congratulated the athletes and presented them with their badges and certificates. A total of 58 sports badges were awarded to 15 children/young people and 43 adults. Of these, 35 are female and 23 male. The youngest person is six, the oldest is 84 years old. 22 participants were taking part for the first time, 36 people were taking part again.

The number of repeats was announced when the certificates were handed out and determined the order in which they were called up. No mention was made of the performance level (bronze twice, silver, 24 times and gold 32 times), as the only thing that counted was "achieved", because taking part is everything.

As in the previous year, Rüdiger Mohrstedt achieved the highest number of sports badges. He was there for the 67th time. Elke Suchy received her 21st sports badge and completed the second-highest number this year. There was a further family competition for cross-generational participation by family members, for example parents with children or grandparents with grandchildren, for which the Sports Office was able to register a total of eight families with the Offenbach Sports District and the Hessen State Sports Association. Evans Lwande is completing an examiner training course at his home club and will be able to support the Offenbach Sports Badge Day next year.

The next Sports Badge Day will take place on Sunday, September 22, 2024.
