Honjok-Repair-Café in the Mathildenviertel

From now on, the Honjok Repair Café will open its doors every third Tuesday of the month. It starts on March 17. Residents can bring their old electrical appliances to the Mathildenviertel district office between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. and have them repaired by the knowledgeable experts on site. The service is free of charge for Offenbach residents.

Honjok-Offenbach has had a team dedicated to repairing and upcycling for almost a year. Radios, jukeboxes and laptops are unscrewed and given a new lease of life.

On February 17, 2026, the Repair Café took place for the first time in cooperation with the Mathildenviertel district office at Krafftstraße 29. Due to the positive response, the event will now be continued on a regular basis.

Old or damaged electrical appliances such as radios, jukeboxes, laptops and computers can be repaired in a relaxed atmosphere. Anyone who would like to lend a hand, exchange ideas or talk shop is also welcome here. Whether you have experience or are just curious - the aim is to extend the life of our everyday objects and avoid waste. The offer and repairs are free of charge for residents.

HONJOK Offenbach is intended to help give Offenbach residents the opportunity to experience community in a new way and to confront loneliness in a positive way. The term "Honjok" comes from South Korean and means "the art of being alone but not lonely" and stands for a worldwide movement for strategies to learn how to deal better with loneliness.

The "HONJOK Offenbach" project is an initiative of KIZ SINNOVA and MainArbeit Offenbach and is funded by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and the European Union via the European Social Fund Plus (ESF Plus) as part of the ESF Plus program "Strengthening Cohesion - Connecting People". The project takes place in cooperation with the Mathildenviertel district management in the Mathildenviertel district office.
