City of Offenbach

Kick-off for the integrative event series "Take a seat"

12.11.2025

To kick off the event series "Take a seat and arrive! - Meet your neighbors", the four neighbourhood management teams in Offenbach literally invited passers-by in the Ring Center shopping mall to take a seat and get creative in a participatory workshop on Wednesday, 5 November. Under the guidance of a professional graphic designer, drafts and ideas were collected for a suitable logo that will serve as a recognizable symbol for the event series in future.

Curious participants were able to learn how advertising works on a crown cap, how shapes and colors work and what a meaningful symbol means during a short introduction to the topic. They then grabbed scissors, glue and pens to create new ideas from a colorful selection of inspirations they had brought with them. The results were impressive and were presented on a display board at the end.

"Nimm Platz" is aimed at new arrivals in Offenbach and is intended to provide support and guidance for questions about arriving in a foreign city. Over the next few months, temporary meeting places will be created in public spaces where newcomers and locals can meet and interact on an equal footing. The idea is for people from the neighborhood to support each other so that new arrivals feel at home in their new place of residence more quickly and it is easier for them to settle in.

The project is funded by Stiftung Mercator and ILS Research gGmbh and is part of the Difu project "Strengthening participation in 'new' arrival neighborhoods".
