City completes parking space concept for Bieber and Bürgel town centers

At its meeting on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the Offenbach City Council decided to supplement the parking and traffic management concept for the Bieber and Bürgel town centers. Subject to approval by the city councillors, more detailed plans are to be implemented. For example, it is to be investigated in a wider area whether neighborhood garages are possible as a substitute for the elimination of parking spaces on the street. The concept came to the conclusion that there were no suitable areas for neighborhood garages within walking distance of the town centers. Neighborhood garages are intended to counteract parking pressure. It is not only important to find suitable locations, but also to clarify the framework for their management so that they are accepted and provide the desired relief for public spaces.

In addition, specific street areas were identified for which the redesign is now to be tackled. For Paul-Gerhard Weiß, Head of Building and Planning, it is important that citizens are involved in the process and emphasizes: "There will be individual project decisions for all individual measures so that there is time for further discussion with residents. Together, we want to increase the quality of life, improve road safety and make the Bieber and Bürgel town centers more attractive."

The Dalles in Bürgel and Schöffenstraße are to be the first areas. Like Pfarrgasse, Alt Bieber and Rathausgasse, they are to be designated as traffic-calmed areas. The comprehensive upgrading of both town centers will take place gradually and is designed for a longer period of time.

This project is part of the urban development master plan 2030, which strengthens the sustainable development of the city of Offenbach as a business and residential location.
