Parking and traffic concept for Bieber & Bürgel
30.04.2024 – Around 50 citizens accepted the city's invitation to find out about the current status of the parking and traffic concept in Bieber and Bürgel. The topic of parking spaces is a moving and sometimes emotional one. This was demonstrated by the response to the kick-off event last Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at the district office in Bieber.
The central question "Where do I park my car and how much space is left for pedestrians?" in the town centers of Bieber and Bürgel is to be answered together with the residents of the districts. A planning office from Nuremberg has now completed the survey for the concept. The planners' interim conclusion: The streets in the two districts are in some cases significantly overcrowded with parked vehicles, and conflicts of use are inevitable. While residents are responsible for the high occupancy levels in the town centers at night, during the day there is a mixture of residents, visitors and employees, especially on the main streets.
But how should this be dealt with and can solutions be found? This is where the attendees were asked to act as local experts, writing down their perceived problems, suggestions and ideas about the town centers of Bieber and Bürgel on notice boards. The information gathered on this evening is now an important point of reference for the traffic planners to determine the main areas of use or potential for relocation within the town centers.
