Topics and projects

"Bieber Bürgel - Mitte machen" (Bieber Bürgel - making the center) is the motto under which the two town centers are to be strengthened. Bieber and Bürgel are receiving support for the implementation of specific projects for the lively and attractive design of their town centers through the urban development program "Lebendige Zentren".

Subject areas

Five fields of action were developed for Bürgel and Bieber to implement the strategies from the ISEK. These include "Living together", "Mobility and accessibility", "Shopping and supply", "Green and climate", as well as "History and building culture". In this way, the broadest possible spectrum of town center development is covered and the most diverse aspects of designing attractive town centers are included.

In order to concretize the strategies and fields of action of the town centre development, projects for the respective town centers were developed together with citizens. In the process, 20 projects were developed for Bürgel and 19 for Bieber. In addition to this, joint projects were also developed for both town centers. This was done against the background that Bieber and Bürgel face similar challenges. These cross-district projects enable synergy effects: Experience can be shared and viable concepts exchanged.

The measures were prioritized both professionally and by citizens. They will be implemented step by step over the next ten years. Accordingly, the ISEK contains a concrete plan of measures, costs and financing for the development of the town center. All measures can be found in the ISEK. à Download ISEK.

Project and objective

The lively districts of Bieber and Bürgel have a lot in common. They are attractive residential locations for young and old. Both have a wide range of amenities as well as good local recreational opportunities. With their small-scale, historic structure, they are carriers of identity. Their many clubs and associations contribute to their lively character. To ensure that this remains the case, both town centers should be strengthened. This has already been defined as an important focus in the master plan.

    District development in Bürgel

The master plan drawn up in 2015 together with the Offenbach offensiv association focuses on the Bürgel district as one of 10 key projects.

The urban development program has also set itself the goal of securing and further developing the two town centers together with Bieber and Bürgel residents as attractive places to live and lively supply areas. This is why the program in Bieber and Bürgel is called "Bieber Bürgel - Mitte machen". The urban development program gives Bieber and Bürgel the opportunity to develop and implement measures to improve the quality of life in the town centers and to upgrade public squares and local streets. The program also promotes structural measures to make the supply areas more attractive. Measures for more greenery in the town centers can also be implemented. The visualization of the historic townscape also plays a major role - for example, incentive programs can be set up for homeowners, among others. In addition, a disposal fund for clubs and active people in the districts is being considered.

Bieber and Bürgel will receive funding from the urban development program for a total of ten years to implement these goals and measures. The basis for this is the integrated urban development concept (ISEK) with specific projects.
