Goethering redesign
The expansion of the Goethering as part of the green ring of facilities is a sub-project from the Offenbach 2030 master plan. It is to be expanded from Berliner Straße to the banks of the Main as a street with green spaces and trees.
Goethering forms the western part of the ring roads around Nordend and runs north-south between Nordring and Berliner Straße. The connection to Berliner Strasse runs via Max-Willner-Platz. In the north, the Goethering merges into the Nordring.
The Goethering is a main road for motorists, providing access to the surrounding districts - Kaiserlei, Hafen, Nordend - and the highway.
In addition to its function as a main traffic artery, the following objectives are to be achieved:
- quality of stay and recreational opportunities as well as
- Create space for leisure and play functions,
- Strengthen pedestrians, cyclists, public transport and accessibility,
- examine an optional streetcar route and
- implement climate adaptation measures.
Citizen participation
On November 10, 2025, a second public participation event was held on the redesign of the Goethering. In workshops and separate meetings with tradespeople, schoolchildren and the Seniors' Council, citizens were able to contribute their wishes and perspectives on various planner variants for traffic and open space.
It became clear that they wanted an attractive, user-friendly and green connection that takes into account different age groups, forms of mobility, usage needs and climate-resilient urban design.
Based on this feedback, there was a clear preference for the variant in which motorized traffic is routed on one side on the west side. This solution creates a large, contiguous green space, increases the number of trees and integrates the streetcar into the mixed traffic, which corresponds to the desired quality of stay.
The findings and wishes collected were examined by the planners and incorporated into the finalized preliminary study for the political decision.

Review of the first public participation
Initial ideas and suggestions for the planned redesign were collected during an initial participation format (city walk) on September 10.

The following steps are planned:
Implementation of the measures is planned for the end of 2027. The prerequisite is that all preliminary stages remain on schedule.
