Designkiosk 2026 - An open space for design, art & democracy

24.02.2026

The Senefelderquartier district office and the Designkiosk project team are inviting all residents and interested parties to a series of events on design, art and democratic participation as part of World Design Capital 2026. The formats will take place in or at the Designkiosk - a designed kiosk space or a temporary construction in public space.

The Designkiosk sees itself as an open meeting place for people from the district who want to exchange ideas, get creative or think about social issues together. The program, designed by Mannheim industrial designer and artist Emre Yazar, includes tours, discussion formats, workshops, readings, lectures and exhibitions. The aim is to open up new perspectives on urban design, coexistence and democratic processes. Here, research, design and experimentation are carried out on a "democracy of the future".

The focus is on the idea that design and art can be democratic tools: They make it possible to make social or political grievances visible, develop new approaches to solutions and get people talking to each other. The Designkiosk offers a low-threshold space for this, bringing together different age groups, backgrounds and realities of life.

The project contributes to social sustainability in the district. Through creative educational offers, cultural activities and cooperation with local partner organizations, participation, inclusion and educational equality are to be strengthened. At the same time, attention is paid to the resource-conserving use of materials and the environment.

The offers are aimed at (prospective) designers and artists from Offenbach as well as young people and residents from the immediate vicinity of the Designkiosk. The aim is to achieve a diverse and representative district society.

The planned dates for 2026 will be updated on an ongoing basis. Planned event dates are Saturday, March 21, April 11, April 18, May 16, June 13, July 18, as well as Sunday, July 19, Saturday, August 15, September 12, October 3, October 17 and November 7, all starting at 1 pm. Meeting points and venues are the Kulturkiosk Uzumumba, Senefelderstraße 72, 63069 Offenbach am Main, and the Quartiersmanagement Senefelderquartier Offenbach, Hermannstraße 16, 69063 Offenbach am Main.
