Protect animals from New Year's Eve fireworks
For many people, New Year's Eve fireworks are part of the New Year. However, the colorful sky and loud firecrackers cause enormous stress for domestic, farm and wild animals. For this reason, fireworks should not be set off on the edges of forests and public green spaces, near forest zoos, animal shelters and stables. Under no circumstances should fireworks be set off in the forest.
Fireworks can cause wild animals to panic. This can cause the animals to run around due to the urge to escape and use up vital energy reserves. This can also lead to road accidents involving wild animals.
Pet owners should find a suitable, sheltered place for their feathered friends or furry friends and not leave them home alone on New Year's Eve. Dog trainer Martin Rütter recommends dog owners use chewy bones or stuffed toys to distract their four-legged friends. Chewing releases happiness hormones. Darkening the room and playing soft classical music can also help. And, of course, a few more cuddles can also help dogs and cats to get through New Year's Eve a little more relaxed.
