Use of groundwater in the area of the former Pechhütte landfill site in Offenbach
The Rosenhöhe residential area is partly located on land that was previously used as a landfill site. Contamination of the groundwater cannot be ruled out due to the former use. The Lower Water Authority of the City of Offenbach therefore provides information on the use of groundwater.
The Rosenhöhe residential area is partly located on land that was previously used as a landfill site. On the site of the former "Pechhütte", the City of Offenbach replaced the topsoil on numerous properties in the 1990s, most recently on one property in 2021.
The quality of the groundwater was investigated in the 1990s. Based on the results of the analyses, no need for remediation was identified. Nevertheless, contamination of the groundwater due to the former use cannot be ruled out.
Owners (or persons who can prove a legitimate interest, such as prospective property buyers) can inquire about the exact contamination of their property at the Lower Water Authority of the City of Offenbach am Main in the Office for the Environment, Energy and Climate Protection.
