New separating elements ensure greater safety on Seligenstädter Straße

17.12.2025

The fully installed separating elements clearly show the area for cyclists.

Good news for cyclists in Offenbach: the expansion of safe cycling facilities on Seligenstädter Straße is continuing. Between the city limits and Waldhofstraße, the installation of new separating elements is now beginning. In future, they will ensure a clear and safe demarcation between cyclists and motorized traffic.

The road section was already marked out last year as part of the "For a bicycle-friendly city of Offenbach am Main" agreement adopted by the city councillors.

With the separation elements now installed, a so-called protected bike lane will be created there. The elements will be installed in the previously marked safety area between the roadway and the cycle lane and offer cyclists significantly more protection in everyday life.

Mayor and Head of Mobility Sabine Groß emphasizes: "It is important to me that cycling in our city becomes safer. The new dividing elements create a protected space for cyclists and help to prevent accidents and maintain the necessary safety distance."

The structural separation not only increases safety for cyclists, but also provides more clarity in the road space - a benefit for all road users. Implementation is being carried out in close coordination with the fire department, the ESO and the road traffic authority.

With the completion of the protective lanes, we will be taking another visible step towards sustainable and safe mobility development," concludes Mayor Sabine Groß.
