Free rental system for e-cargo bikes
The City of Offenbach's Office for the Environment, Energy and Climate Protection is providing eight e-cargo bikes for environmentally friendly transportation. The offer is made in cooperation with the Rhine-Main regional group of the Verkehrsclub Deutschland (VCD) and is supported by Offenbach retailers. The e-cargo bikes can be borrowed by citizens free of charge.

People who cycle are doing something for their health and the climate, saving themselves traffic jams and the annoying search for a parking space. Especially in inner-city areas, the bicycle is therefore the means of transportation of choice for many Offenbach residents. But when it comes to transporting the weekly groceries or crates of drinks, many people fall back on the car.
For this reason, in a joint pilot project with the VCD and with the support of five retailers, the Environmental Agency and municipal utilities have set up a free rental system with six e-cargo bikes (one retailer has two cargo bikes available), demonstrating that climate protection, the traffic turnaround and retail can go hand in hand.

How it works
Once you have registered once at www.main-lastenrad.de (opens in a new tab) with your name, e-mail address, telephone number and address details, you can rent the e-cargo bikes with just a few clicks: All locations are marked on a map. If you select a location, a booking calendar opens where you can select the desired date and reserve the cargo bike. On the day of the reservation, the cargo bike can then be picked up during the opening hours of the respective station. It is also easy to return the bike during the respective opening hours. There are no costs for users.
