Arriving in Offenbach
22.04.2015 – Welcome to Offenbach, the city of versatility! Here, young creative minds study in the time-honored Renaissance castle. Here, routes lead along orchards - or industrial monuments. Here, the Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt performs in the Capitol, while a rock band sweeps through the Stadthalle at the same time. People from many nations and cultures live together here and see this as an opportunity.
Offenbach has undergone a major transformation from a former industrial city to an important
service center in the middle of the Rhine-Main region. This attracts many innovative companies: More than 4,000 people develop ideas in the creative economy here - a location factor that needs to be expanded. At the same time, the upgrading of the city center is in full swing: after Berliner Strasse, Frankfurter Strasse and the pedestrian zone, Wilhelmsplatz with its weekly market is now being redesigned. This vibrant meeting place is just as worth discovering as the German Leather Museum/Shoe Museum, the Klingspor Museum for Book and Type Art - and a total of 400 cultural monuments in the city area.
A great new addition to the museum landscape since 2019 is the Digital Retro Park run by the association of the same name, where Commodore, Atari and Ping come to life.
Offenbach am Main is changing, everything flows and is in motion, including its relationship with the river itself. At the former industrial port, the city has discovered its waterfront location and developed a new district for living and working on the Main, bringing urban life to the riverbank. The charming contrast is not far away: a short distance upstream lies the Rumpenheim district, one of the oldest places in the region, where kings once strolled in the castle park.
Offenbach invests - also in the next generation. The future topic of education is an absolute priority: despite the tight financial situation, the city is currently implementing a multi-million euro program for new construction and renovation of schools.
Offenbach is looking ahead, developing visions and seizing its opportunities. Love at first sight? The city probably offers that to very few people. More importantly, the relationship with it remains exciting and lively.
