The artwork by sculptor Bonifatius Stirnberg from 1998 in front of the Apotheke zum Löwen is a reminder of the Frankfurt citizen who once tried to fend off free-running dogs... When he bent down to throw a stone at the animals, it froze in place. He then exclaimed in Frankfurt dialect: "Krieh die Kränk, Offebach! Die Staa binne se aa, die Hunde lasse se laafe." In High German, this means "Damn Offenbach! The stones tie them up, the dogs let them run."
