According to legend, the Minotaur lived in a labyrinthine prison on Crete. Every nine years, seven young boys and seven virgins were sacrificed until Theseus killed the monster with the help of Ariadne. With a closed fist and pointed horns, the Greek legendary figure in glittering armor has been looking out onto Frankfurter Straße in Dreieichpark since 2008.
The two and a half meter high stainless steel sculpture was created by Bernd Rosenheim, who also designed the flame in front of the town hall. "Rosenheim interprets the "Minotaur" less as a man-eating monster than as a silent observer of people.
