OFFENBACH AM MAIN
Offenbach is electric and edgy. This is where cool rappers meet hip bankers; where creative students connect with international talents. In Offenbach, Little Italy is just a hop, skip and a jump away from the Bosporus and it is blessed with historical buildings standing in juxtaposition to prize-winning architecture. The mix is inspiring - Senefelder, Mozart, Goethe and many leather dynasties are associated with the name of the city. Many of these stories are brought to life in the city’s three museums.
Several worlds come together in this city - Offenbach impresses with its art, culture and diversity: “Offenbach is almost alright”. And more than that. Reality has long since overtaken this description used by the organiser of the 2016 Biennale of Architecture. And, if you dare to look beyond this, you won’t be disappointed: Endearing people from all over the globe live here - they may wear their hearts on their sleeves, but their hearts are always in the right place. The whole vibe is best experienced on the banks of the River Main in summer and at Wilhelmsplatz at all other times - the square is home to one of the finest weekly markets in the region and is a real focal point for gastronomy, offering cuisine from all over the world. Offenbach is big on small things and is always worth a visit.
The weekly market on Wilhelmsplatz with its surrounding food outlets is considered to be one of the finest in the entire region, and with good reason. This square is just a short walk from the banks of the River Main, the Sparda Bank Hessen Stadium and climbing park, the Weather Park and the city’s museums: the Klingspor Museum, the Haus der Stadtgeschichte (local history museum) and the German Leather Museum bring the art of writing, artisanry and inventive genius to life.
Culture and Events
It’s all down to the combination - this is especially true of Offenbach and is part of what makes the city so fascinating. People from 150 different countries and cultures live together here. Mini world tours take place here on a daily basis and are properly celebrated at the Mainuferfest festival in June. The Festival of Lights in August is an event that’s not just for romantics. Offenbach residents gather in Büsing Park to watch the New Frankfurt Philharmonic Orchestra and enjoy the atmosphere created by 70,000 twinkling lights, or at the Riviera Festival in September when the Main river bank is transformed into a clubbing district.

Wellness and health
The only thing missing is the sea... Frankfurter Straße lies somewhere between the Levant and the Aegean and is full of frappé coffees, souvlaki and jazz - it is a great place to sit, relax and enjoy yourself. Or, as Offenbach is kind of by the sea with the wonderful unspoilt riverbank that it calls its own, why not enjoy a walk in the direction of Bürgel, past the Schultheisweiher nature reserve and on to Rumpenheim with its castle and park, where kings could once be found taking a stroll. Here is the perfect place to relax and escape your daily routine.
