Sailboat capsized near Offenbach harbour island
29.04.2021 – A sailing boat capsized near Offenbach harbour island. One person is hanging from the boat. This was the message that was sent to the fire department control center at Rhönstraße 10 at 3:00 pm.
The emergency services of the professional fire department and the Rumpenheim volunteer fire department immediately deployed to the scene with the water rescue train and two boats. A capsized sailing boat was spotted in the middle of the Main. The person could no longer be seen, which is why the search had to be started. Fortunately, the sailor was found by the police a short time later on the Frankfurt side of the Main. He had swum to the shore under his own steam. The boat was righted by the fire department and pulled out of the water channel so that commercial shipping could be cleared to continue its journey.
