Four injured in extensive room fire

10.04.2022 – Four people have been injured as a result of an extensive room fire on the first floor of an apartment building in Gustav-Adolf-Str. in Offenbach.

At 3.06 a.m., several callers reported a room fire in an apartment building in Gustav-Adolf-Straße by calling 112. The professional fire department, the Waldheim volunteer fire department and the rescue service were alerted immediately. When the fire engine of the professional fire department arrived, a room of the first floor apartment in the backyard was already fully engulfed in flames, the stairwell of the apartment building was filled with smoke and several residents were still in the building at the time. The platoon leader immediately initiated the rescue operation. Three people were rescued via the stairwell and one person was rescued from the building using a portable ladder and handed over to the emergency services. At the same time, firefighting and ventilation measures were initiated on the first floor.

The fire was under control at 03:49 and the extinguishing work was completed at 04:52. The water pipe in the apartment affected by the fire had burst due to the strong impact of the fire, so the water supply to the property had to be turned off. The leaking water was collected by the fire department.

Three injured residents were transported to a clinic by the emergency services for treatment of smoke inhalation, one resident was treated as an outpatient. A total of 28 firefighters and 11 paramedics were dispatched to the scene.
The Bieber and Rumpenheim volunteer fire departments provided basic protection during the operation.
