City of Offenbach

Four operations in three hours

26.09.2024 – It was a busy evening for the Offenbach fire department this Thursday.
Elaborate rescue from an elevator cabin, activation of a fire alarm system, traffic accident via eCall message and triggered home smoke detector.

On 26.09.2024 at 17:20, the central control center of the Offenbach professional fire department received an emergency call reporting a person trapped in an elevator in Andréstraße. The elevator company on site was unable to fix the problem because the rope mechanism was not working.
An extensive technical rescue was initiated by the fire department and the cabin was pulled level with the floor using a cable so that the person could be freed and handed over to the rescue service.

An hour later, at 18:32, the fire department received an automatic fire alarm from Schloßstraße. The emergency services on site quickly established that it was a false alarm.

Another hour later, at 19:41, there was a traffic accident in Wilhelmstraße. An accident report was received by the control center via the automatic emergency notification system "eCall" and the fire department responded with the accident train. Two vehicles had collided at a junction. Fortunately, none of the people involved were injured and the fire department only had to take preventive action to provide fire protection.

Another hour later, the control center received a fire report from Markwaldstraße. The home smoke detector had been triggered in an apartment on the 5th floor due to burnt food. Apart from mechanical ventilation measures, the emergency services did not have to take any further action at this location. Fortunately, there were no injuries here either. The operation was ended at 21:20.
