Balcony fire in an apartment building

07.06.2025 – On Friday afternoon, a dangerous balcony fire broke out in Offenbach-Bürgel, which threatened to spread rapidly and resulted in a large-scale operation by the fire department.

The fire department was alerted to a fire on a balcony of an apartment building in Langstraße at around 5:11 p.m. Due to the location, there was an acute risk of the fire spreading to the roof.
Fortunately, the occupant of the affected apartment was able to get to safety in time and received outpatient medical treatment on site.

The situation was further complicated by the fact that a fire engine and the turntable ladder from the professional fire department were already working on a complex patient rescue elsewhere in the city at the time the alarm was raised.
The Frankfurt fire department was therefore requested to provide support. The Frankfurt firefighters arrived at the scene of the fire quickly and assisted the Offenbach firefighters in fighting the fire.

Thanks to the rapid and coordinated deployment, the fire was quickly brought under control and the fire was ultimately prevented from spreading to the roof. Nevertheless, both the affected apartment and the unit above it are currently uninhabitable.
The exact extent of the damage is not yet known.

While the firefighting work was still ongoing, another fire engine from the Offenbach fire department had to be deployed to an embankment fire in the city area, which once again put the fire department under considerable pressure.

The Offenbach fire department would like to thank its colleagues from Frankfurt for their support and the understanding of local residents during the extensive operations
