Burning bulky waste on house wall endangers residents
23.09.2025 – At around 2.30 a.m., the Offenbach am Main control center received several emergency calls about bulky waste burning on the façade of a house in Luisenstraße.
When the fire department arrived, the fire had already spread to an apartment on the first floor. Fire smoke had spread through tilted windows into the apartments above and into the stairwell of the five-storey building.
Some of the residents escaped outside. The fire department initially took a total of 17 people to the safe rear courtyard of the residential building as the fire prevented them from escaping directly to the outside. Once the escape route had been secured, they were handed over to the emergency services. Several residents complained of inhaled smoke fumes. After sighting and initial treatment on site, one person was transported to hospital for further treatment. As a precautionary measure, a bus was provided as a temporary place to stay.
The fire was quickly brought under control. The smoke was forced out of the affected apartments and stairwells by mechanical ventilation.
The emergency services were supported by forces from Frankfurt. The operation ended at 05:15.
