Operations on New Year's Eve in the Offenbach am Main urban area
01.01.2025 – The City of Offenbach's fire and rescue service personnel had a busy start to 2025. 18 fires and 33 rescue service deployments are the operational balance from 00:00 to 05:00.
A balcony was on fire on the 11th floor in Odenwaldring. The fire was quickly brought under control by the emergency services. At the same time, another fire was reported to the fire department. Fortunately, this was a hoax and the firefighters were able to leave the scene quickly.
The firefighters then went directly to Bieberer Straße 107, where a fire on a balcony on the first floor had to be extinguished. Later that night, two fire alarm systems were also triggered. However, these were false alarms, so that the fire department did not have to take any further action.
The remaining 13 fires were so-called small fires, such as a garbage can or bushes. These were spread across the entire city and were attended by individual fire engines.
For New Year's Eve, personnel and resources were increased in the control center, the fire protection service and the rescue service. To support the professional fire department, the three volunteer fire departments in Bieber, Rumpenheim and Waldheim manned 5 fire engines in their shelters with over 30 volunteers. This enabled the Offenbach fire department to staff 2 fire engines and other individual fire engines during the critical time window. Thanks to these measures, it was possible for the dispatchers at the control center in Rhönstraße to respond to all 18 fires without time constraints.
In addition, the control center received a large number of emergency calls for the rescue service. In 33 cases, ambulances had to be alerted. Due to the large number of simultaneous calls, additional ambulances from the Offenbach district were requested for support.
Forces deployed: 24 BF Offenbach, 30 FF Offenbach, 29 rescue services
