Major fire and other fire alarms

14.08.2025 – At around 1 p.m., a fire alarm reached the central control center of the professional fire department.

A warehouse, similar to a very sturdy greenhouse, of approx. 1000 square meters burned to the ground. Several vehicles were parked in the warehouse and gas cylinders were also stored there. The fire spread to the smaller neighboring warehouse. No persons were injured by the fire.

The fire could only be contained and extinguished with the massive use of water. Approx. 3 km of hoses were laid and several tankers were deployed to provide sufficient water.

Around 120 firefighters from the Offenbach professional fire department and the volunteer fire departments from Rumpenheim, Waldheim and Bieber were deployed. The forces were supported by fire departments from the Offenbach district (Obertshausen, Mühlheim, Neu-Isenburg and Seligenstadt), the police with two water cannons, the rescue service and the technical relief organization.

The operation ended at around 6 pm.
Lord Mayor Dr. Schwenke thanked the emergency services for their strenuous efforts, especially in the current summer heat.

In the background of every operation, the Offenbach fire department always plans the basic protection of the city of Offenbach. Once again, this routine proved its worth. At the same time as the major fire, a fire alarm system was triggered in the Musikerviertel at around 3.30 pm, which was triggered by construction work but did not require any special action from the fire department's point of view.
This was followed at 3.50 p.m. by a burst water pipe in the Lachwiesen, where the fire department was able to prevent major damage caused by leaking water.
At around 4.35 pm, a fire was reported in the Senefelder Quartier in Starkenburgring. The fire department had to extinguish a fire in an adjoining room with a C-pipe.
