Several hundred thousand liters of water ran into the cellar and underground garage
24.04.2025 – On 24.04.2025 at 07.40 a.m., several hundred thousand liters of water leaked into the basement and underground car park of an office building on Herrnrainweg as a result of a presumably technical defect.
No one was injured, but water was standing in all rooms in the basement area and in the underground garage over an area of approx. 600m² up to a height of approx. 0.8m. As a result of the water ingress, the building's electrical distribution system was in danger of flooding.
For this reason, the building was de-energized by Energienetze Offenbach GmbH in order to protect the emergency services working in the basement from the risk of electric shock. The water ingress was then stopped by the emergency services using sealing bubbles.
The Offenbach fire department used several pumps to pump out the huge quantities of water.
Cause: unclear
