Room fire with human life in danger - ManV 10 triggered
23.05.2025 – At 00:03 a.m., several reports reached the central control center of the professional fire department via the emergency call 112 that there was a fire in an apartment building in Wiesenstraße.
The fire engine from the professional fire department was then alerted and, together with the emergency services, deployed to the scene in Wiesenstraße. The situation on site was that there was an extensive room fire on the second floor of an apartment building. Several people had already made themselves noticed at the windows. The flames were also threatening to spread to the roof structure. The smoke from the fire spread rapidly through the other apartments in the building and into the stairwell. Other people also reported to the incident commander that there were still several people in the building. As a result, several teams wearing breathing apparatus entered the affected property to rescue people and fight the fire. At the same time, the units deployed two turntable ladders to rescue people from the upper floors and prevent the fire from spreading further.
Other units from the volunteer fire departments of the city of Offenbach am Main were called in to provide further support for these measures. The emergency services were also given the keyword "mass casualty incident <10" and several ambulances and emergency doctors from the surrounding area were requested.
As a result, the emergency services rescued a total of six people from the fire, four of them via the stairwell and two via the fire department's turntable ladders. All of them were transported to hospitals in the surrounding area, with two of them suffering more serious injuries. The remaining residents were cared for in an OVB bus that was called to the scene.
After the extinguishing measures had been completed, the firefighters on site extensively ventilated the apartments in the building. Due to damage to the building as a result of the fire, the house is currently uninhabitable.
