Leakage of unknown substance / accident with public bus / emergency door opening
14.03.2026 – At 6:19 p.m., a walker reported the leakage of an unknown substance from blue barrels that had been illegally disposed of in a wooded area near Dietzenbacher Straße.
Numerous emergency services from the professional fire department and the Bieber volunteer fire department were then dispatched.
The situation was confirmed on site. An unknown substance had leaked from a 200 liter drum. Other barrels and small containers were also found at the site. The danger zone was initially cordoned off and the fire department investigated the scene using breathing apparatus. The operation was very time-consuming, as an extensive search for the substance had to be carried out first. The Frankfurt professional fire department was called in to assist with special measuring equipment. The leaked substance was then secured using protective equipment, collected and taken to the recycling center. The scene was handed over to the police, who also initiated further investigations.
During the operation, fire protection was provided by the Rumpenheim and Waldheim volunteer fire departments. The Rumpenheim fire department had to respond to an emergency door opening during the ongoing operation.
Earlier in the afternoon, a traffic accident occurred between a passer-by and a public bus on the market square; due to an unclear situation, numerous fire and rescue services were dispatched. One person suffered moderate injuries.
