    History of the Offenbach fire department

    In 1845, the gymnasts ensured that firefighting was better organized. It was not until 1921 that the Offenbach professional fire department was founded. Until then, firefighting was largely a private matter.

    History of the rescue service

    Closely interwoven with the history of the fire department is the emergence of the rescue service. This emerged from the gymnastics club (TVO) at the end of the 17th century.

    Turntable ladders - from 1903 to today

    In 1903, the world's first electric automobile rescue ladder replaced the steam fire engine in Offenbach. It was in use until 1927 and is now in the German Fire Brigade Museum in Fulda.
